St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a nuclear medicine physician or pediatric radiologist with expertise in nuclear medicine and experience in oncologic imaging to join the Department of Diagnostic Imaging.

This is a highly desirable full-time faculty position for the candidate interested in pursuing an academic career and performing clinical research in a stimulating atmosphere within a progressive and unique institution.

Several faculty career tracks are available including clinical, research and clinician-scientist. Interpersonal skills, a collaborative nature and clinical acumen are essential. Academic rank will depend on qualifications and experience.

  • Clinical responsibilities include:

    • Providing diagnostic services interpreting nuclear medicine procedures including PET/CT
    • Provide nuclear medicine therapeutic services
    • Provide direction to Diagnostic Imaging technologists regarding imaging procedures, when needed.
    • Provide consultation services to clinical staff and faculty regarding indications for imaging procedures and interpretation of imaging procedures.
    • Participate in and present imaging in weekly multidisciplinary conferences.
    • Work with one or more Diagnostic Imaging faculty colleagues in the Reading Room.
    • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform, supervise and interpret nuclear imaging procedures obtained on any age child and young adults.
    • Provide diagnostic services interpreting body CT, MRI, ultrasound, DEXA, conventional radiographs, fluoroscopy
    • Prescribe examinations for body imaging procedures 
    • Participate in night/weekend call work rotation to provide back-up to after-hours imaging services when remote, teleradiology services are not possible.

Within the Department of Diagnostic Imaging we offer:

  • state of the art imaging equipment including –
    • PET imaging supported by an on-site cyclotron radiochemistry facility
    • dual-energy CT imaging
    • 3T and 1.5T MRI machines
  • a rapidly growing advanced imaging post-processing lab staffed with imaging scientists and dedicated post processing specialists
  • dedicated medical and MRI physicists
  • a departmental team of experienced clinical research assistants
  • a group of nationally and internationally renowned academic radiologists

Clinical work is carried out in an exceptionally well-organized, efficient, collaborative and collegial environment on a single campus. Teleradiology remote services are provided for after hours and weekends, with St. Jude radiologists providing back-up call only on an as needed and rotating basis (approximately 1 week every 2 months).

The preferred candidate must have an MD, DO or equivalent degree, have board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, and board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Radiology. Applicants must qualify for medical licensure in the State of Tennessee and must be eligible for a DEA license.
