Description

Roles and Responsibilities

The Clinical Outcomes Research Fellow position is designed for individuals in general surgery or cardiothoracic surgical training programs who are seeking additional clinical research opportunities with a highly productive team.  With this position there will be opportunities to leverage existing biostatistician and data resources and to aid in:

       Providing clinical insight to guide non-clinical research team members and to draw conclusions from statistical results.

       Presenting abstract and writing manuscripts by assuming the role of first author on one or multiple research projects.

Attending a bi-weekly virtual research meeting with other team members including biostatisticians, data managers, and cardiac surgical faculty and residents.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

       M.D. or D.O.

    Proficient in the English Language

Preferred Skills

       Enrolled in ACGME or non-ACGME General Surgical or Cardiothoracic Surgical Residency

Information about Research Team

The primary PI for this research team is Arman Kilic, MD. This research team includes, a program manager, a full-time biostatistician, multiple part-time, volunteer, biostatisticians, several MUSC CT-Surgery Residents, two full-time data engineers, AI and machine learning data scientists, multiple part-time, volunteer, data engineers, and 20-40 medical students at any given time. This research team routinely submits several abstracts to all major CT surgery and other surgical meetings and publishes regularly.   This opportunity will focus on clinical outcomes research, however, there are opportunities in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning research, if there is interest by the candidate.
