The Heart Vascular and Thoracic Institute at Cleveland Clinic is seeking a Main Campus Heart Failure Cardiologist to join our George M. and Linda H. Kaufman Center for Heart Failure Treatment and Recovery. Candidates should be BC/BE in Cardiovascular Diseases and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology (AHFTC). We are particularly seeking cardiologists with board certification in both AHFTC and Critical Care Medicine, as well as translational or clinical science physician investigators.
The Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Section currently includes more than 20 advanced HF cardiologists, and our program performed over 90 heart transplants and over 80 durable left ventricular assist devices in 2025. This position plays a key role in providing inpatient and outpatient clinical care for patients referred to the Heart Failure Section at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, including advanced heart failure, subspecialty cardiomyopathies and advanced heart failure. The role supports growth of the Heart Failure Program, Heart Transplant Program and Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS)/ Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Program across the health system.
- Provide inpatient and outpatient clinical care for patients with heart failure at the Main Campus, including advanced HF, subspecialty cardiomyopathies and HF subgroups; facilitate communication with ancillary support staff regarding patient care needs.
- Care for patients receiving or being evaluated for advanced therapies, including temporary MCS, durable VAD and heart transplantation.
- Contribute to procedures used in the care of heart failure patients including right heart catheterization and right ventricular endomyocardial biopsy, also with opportunities to perform diagnostic left heart catheterization, CardioMEMS device implantation, and intra-aortic balloon pump placement.
- Support utilization, growth and effectiveness related to Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support/VAD programs.
- Participate in Heart Failure Section meetings and other relevant institutional meetings including the Advanced Therapeutics Committee Meeting, VAD and Transplant Quality meetings, and HF Research Meeting.
- Maintain competency in left ventricular assist devices/VAD through institution-based training sessions and participate in Heart Failure, Heart Transplant and VAD Program Quality Initiatives.
- Contribute to Heart Failure Section research efforts, including translational and/or clinical science, site leadership of clinical trials and team research meetings. Provide education to residents, cardiology fellows and advanced HF fellows.
